Social Media & Events Assistant

We’re on the lookout for someone to join our growing sales, marketing and events team here at the brewery in Finchampstead.

This is a great opportunity to join a young business in a fun and dynamic start-up environment. You’ll need to be pro-active, passionate and flexible, and in return will have the opportunity to really make the role your own whilst working with a fantastic community of beer lovers.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, creating and posting content across social media platforms
  • Assisting with writing and editing copy for our website, blog and customer emails
  • Assisting with photography and video content
  • Providing front-line customer support and interaction across channels
  • Working in collaboration with trade partners to promote events
  • Assisting with the promotion and presentation of our brewery tasting room and bottle shop
  • Assist with the management of our online shop (including packing orders in peak times)
  • Support the general sales and marketing effort with marketing admin, asset management, merchandise and point-of-sale responsibilities

Requirements

  • Degree in Marketing/PR/Digital/Journalism/English/Design or some relevant experience
  • Web savvy with working knowledge across social media platforms
  • Good writing skills with the ability to use appropriate tone-of-voice
  • Excellent attention to detail and an eye for design
  • Passionate about food, drink and craft beer specifically
  • Enthusiastic with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Skills in any of graphic design, photography or video preferential


Hours, Salary and Benefits:

  • Benefits include a company pension, monthly HonestBrew bank contributions to pick up any awesome beers you fancy, a generous team discount scheme and the chance to attend some of the world’s best beer festivals and events.
  • Working hours: 9 – 5.30 Mon-Fri. Flexible with occasional evening and weekend work required.
  • Salary: £18-24k depending on experience.

Direct Sales Co-ordinator

We are looking for a driven, passionate person to join our sales team. You will have direct responsibility managing our valued direct customers as well as for increasing sales through both new and existing customer relationships.

This is a great opportunity to join a young business in a fun and dynamic environment. You will need to show you are flexible, hard-working and have a track record in sales along with a knowledge and passion for craft beer. The position will be office based at our brewery near Reading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing our direct delivery customer orders.
  • Developing and building relationships with new and existing accounts.
  • Develop and maintain strong positive relations with all customers.
  • Complete necessary reporting, maintain sales & personal development goals

Brewer

Brewers at Siren Craft brew oversee everything from wort production to cellaring. You will operate a 55 hl brewhouse, utilising single batch fermenters. Currently the brewing team consists of five brewers working together to produce and process wort and beer. The brewers must communicate efficiently and effectively amongst themselves along with the Head Brewer, Lab Manager, and Pack Manager to accomplish tasks on a daily basis. Brewers work seamlessly with our packaging crew to ensure all the beer we make is passed on to the consumer without fault. Brewing at Siren is a balance of hard, thought provoking, detail oriented work. We strive to be innovative and creative, we make over 60 unique beers a year and as a brewer you will partake in creating every one of them. Brewers at Siren work closely together as a team as well as independently. Quality is our main focus which requires impeccable attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and the ability to seek help when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and effectively communicate with co-workers
  • Working in the brewery with the strictest adherence to sanitary practices
  • CIP on various vessels and product lines
  • Wort production on a 55hl, 3 vessel system
  • Process and manage FV additions
  • Yeast handling
  • Quality control – checks, preparation of media for lab, DO, CO2, etc…
  • Centrifuge operation, transfer from FV to BBT
  • Beer transfers without the Centrifuge.
  • Inventory management
  • General brewery cleanliness and maintenance
  • Following, creating and improving SOPs
  • Product innovation and creation
  • Operating safely around the brewery equipment, chemicals, etc…
  • Operation of our “pilot” brewery
  • Sensory analysis of wort, beer in progress, and finished product

Requirements

  • Applicable education related to brewing theory
  • Minimum 2 years experience in brewing or applicable higher education
  • Must understand basic cleanliness and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work safely in a dangerous environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to lift 25 kg repeatable
  • Forklift licence a plus

Lead Brewer

The Lead Brewer at Siren Craft Brew will help lead improvement and maintain compliance in the brewery. They will help manage daily production in the brewery ensuring safe, effective and efficient completion of the tasks at hand. They will work closely with the head brewer and packaging manager to maintain a high standard of quality. They will improve and maintain our HACCP plan and will lead the creation of a SALSA plan. They will maintain and improve general safety throughout the brewery. They will be an ambassador for Siren both internally amongst their fellow employees and externally at events. We currently seeking applications for a lead brewer at Siren Craft Brew. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentoring and leading by example. Our lead brewer is on the floor daily working side by side with all the other brewers, leading by example, and through positive management.
  • Help manage day to day production in the brewery and cellar. This encompasses interpreting the schedule for the day, creating a production flow scheme, and ensuring correct and efficient completion of what needs to be done for the day.
  • Help managing our detailed daily QC checks and actions. Daily assessment of all fermentations in process to determine what actions need to be need taken (temperature increases/decreases, dry hopping/spicing, pressure correction, etc.).
  • Maintaining HACPP compliance in the brewery.
  • Advocating for and creating a safe work environment.
  • Work towards gaining SALSA accreditation.
  • Standard Operating Procedures. Expand SOPs in the brewery, ensure SOPs are being followed, and auditing all SOPs with an eye to improve.
  • Quality Improvement. Help the head brewer identify areas of improvement in the brewery and help apply them.
  • Product Innovation
    • Assist head brewer in identifying and implicating innovation in the brewery
    • Assist in and develop unique and flavourful recipes
  • Assist head brewer and at times lead collaborations
  • General brewer responsibilities as above 

Requirements:

  • Brewing theory a must – minimum IBD or similar
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a production brewery
  • Management experience
  • Extensive HACCP knowledge and experience
  • Understanding of SALSA, experience a plus
  • Brewery laboratory knowledge, lab experience a plus
  • Must understand basic cleanliness and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work safely in a dangerous environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to lift 25 kg repeatable
  • Forklift licence a plus
