Yu Lu is calling…

Introducing our newest core beer, a loose leaf pale ale brewed with Earl Grey Tea

Yu Lu is an intricate beer with layers of flavour that remain distinctive, yet work in perfect harmony. Her name alludes to the mystical history of the humble tea leaf, which delivers subtle bergamot orange and lemon notes here, accentuated by the addition of lemon zest. Her delicate hop high notes will leave your taste buds sparkling.

The newest member of our core range, Yu Lu offers balanced flavour that belies its low strength. Perfect, refreshing drinking for any occasion. Find it on keg, cask or in bottle all year round from Friday, 31st March.

Yu Lu is Calling

When and where can I drink it?

Yu Lu launches Friday 31st March 2017. To celebrate, we’ve teamed up with some awesome bars, restaurants, pubs and bottle shops up and down the country to allow as many people as possible to try it. Click the map on the left to see the full-size version.

If there’s nowhere that you can get to easily, fear not! We’re working on adding even more great bars to this list, and will soon have Oddbins Stores fully stocked up. You can also buy Yu Lu online.

We’re proud to be the only brewery involved in National Tea Day 2017. We’ll be pouring Yu Lu for tea-lovers at Kensington Roof Gardens on Friday 21st April. Look out for more tea-themed events and offers throughout the month!

What’s the story behind the beer?

Yu LuYu Lu represents the care and attention that goes in to every one of our brews, and it’s a beer that has developed over time, as we’ve refined the recipe from its roots in Vermont two years ago. Earl Grey tea leaves have always played a key part, offering familiarity and uniqueness simultaneously.

The tea brings an inherent dry bitterness along with a burst of bergamot juice that begins to layer the fruit flavours, complemented by an all-star American hop profile of Chinook, Citra, Amarillo and Simcoe. For an extra high-note, lemon zest shines through in careful balance. The beer comes full circle on the finish, as the ale yeast from Vermont, that has since become our unique house strain, finishes the tasting with gorgeous peach and apricot notes.

As part of our core range, we’re delighted to be able to offer this beer in cask, keg and bottle all year round. It’s just as good as an after work pint as it is complementing food in a restaurant. We think it’s a great introduction to the flavour-forward beers in our core range, and an ideal starting point on the craft beer journey.
