Two years ago today we were commissioning our brand new canning line.
It was an exciting moment, and of course it all began in the back-end of 2018, when we announced our intention to raise funds through a crowdfunding raise to enable us to take our next big step as a brewery and a business. The response was amazing, and it’s a pleasure to be able to write to all 1,500 of you, our investors, today.
The CFT 10-head canning line was chosen for its capacity (up to 6,000 cans per hour) and it’s exceptional QC capability. The proviso of us switching to canning was that our final beer in pack was as good or better than the high standards we reached with our bottling line. After an intense installation process, across 330 and 440ml cans, on the 5th July we canned Gyle 1413 - Soundwave, our first official canning run.
The canning line made an immediate positive impact, but no one could have predicted how important it was about to become to us. Frankly without your investment, and subsequently without in-house canning, it’s difficult to see what position we would be in as a business right now. With it, we were able to weather the toughest times in the pandemic. We could respond quickly to opportunities available, and continue to release beers we were very proud of in spite of the challenges faced. And ultimately, we think it enabled us to keep doing something positive for our customers in the most testing of times.
