Vacancies

We are looking for a Packaging Operator to join our Production Team here at Siren Craft Brew. This is a full-time role based at the brewery in Finchampstead.

Our production team has a diverse range of experience and interests, allowing us to create innovative and adventurous beers. We employ a continuous improvement culture and have a work environment where we are proud of what we do and how we do it. We are looking for an individual who is ready to learn new skills, cares about the details, and brings energy & enthusiasm to the job.

The role we are recruiting for will focus on packaging our award-winning beers into keg and cask.

The role will require you to be physically fit due to the nature of the work.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

o Preparing kegs to be ready to be filled and operating the keg washer/filler machine.
o Preparing casks and operating the cask washer machine.
o Racking beer into casks.
o Labelling, scanning, and palletising filled kegs and casks.
o Using checklists and keeping records to ensure the beer meets our high, quality standards.
o Using our brewery software to print labels and record stock levels.
o Communicating with the warehouse team to ensure packaging materials are available on time and filled stock is ready for collection.
o Cleaning of the packaging plant and equipment.
o General housekeeping in the brewery.
o Working to food hygiene standards set by the brewery.
o Following Standard Operating Procedures once trained.
** Full training will be provided**

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

- Positive, energetic, can-do attitude.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to learn new skills and contribute to a continuous improvement culture of working.
- Can work well in a team.
- Capable of physical work.
- Able to work safely with chemicals and machinery.
- Fork-lift truck certified (desirable but not essential).
- Previous experience in Food or Beverage industry (desirable but not essential).
- Interest in beer not essential but would help with your enjoyment in the role.

Main duties will include:
• Serving and assisting customers (on and off sales)
• Educating customers about our beer and philosophy
• Assisting with festivals and other events where and when possible
• Preparing web orders and customer collections

You will need to:
• Effectively communicate with customers and co-workers
• Be flexible (available shifts could vary and the Tap Yard opens on Saturdays)
• Take pride in your work with great attention to detail
• Experience is preferred but more important is the willingness to learn and genuine enthusiasm for hospitality, community, craft beer or a combination.

The Tap Yard is the frontline of what we do, serving brewery-fresh beer and running some of the most exciting events in the beer scene. We envisage this role evolving over time with opportunities for key involvement in future projects and Tap Yard developments.

Hourly paid position but average weekly hours will be around 40 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day running of the Tap Yard and open/close procedures (Tues-Sunday opening days, Mainly Over Weekends)
  • Manage and grow a dedicated team including training and shift-planning
  • Oversee cellar maintenance and quality standards
  • Manage stock and commercials with regular reporting
  • Work with the management team to assess and implement new offerings
  • Drive the planning and execution of events (weekly and large ones ran at tap yard)
  • Marketing of the Tap Yard through social media channels
  • Hands on management of our small pizza kitchen
  • Conducting weekly brewery tours on a Saturday
  • Management of street food vendors on a weekend
  • Driving Sales on a daily basis and influence local marketing projects
  • Maintain labour spending budgets on a weekly basis
  • Maintenance of equipment and fixtures within the business

We are on the hunt for an experienced GM to take our Friar Street bar to the next level, growing the sales, creating incredible customer experiences and developing the team around them.

Our current general manager Lucy is moving to the police force and has done an incredible job at bringing the business to where it is today!

We are looking for an individual who shares the same passion for food that we do for beer. This role isn’t an ordinary Kitchen Manager/Head Chef position – we are looking for a creatively minded individual, with proven leadership skills and an ambition to drive the business forward.

Salary shown is base salary (up to £34,000) plus tronc/tips (£3,000-£6,000).

48 Hour Contract, plus KPI Dependent 10% bonus. (£3,400)

Base £34,000 + Tips £3,000-£6,000 + KPI Bonus £3,400

Main responsibilities

  • Creating specs and costings to achieve margin
  • Creation of food menu
  • Working with local suppliers for seasonal specials
  • Recruitment and Development of kitchen team
  • Labour analysis and control for BOH spending
  • Implementation of weekly stock takes
  • Experience of recipe building and costing
  • Compliance with food safety, labour, and employment laws
  • Carry out monthly 1-2-1's with team

About you

  • Demonstrate 2+ years at kitchen manager/head chef level (fresh food kitchen preferred)
