Not sure where to start with our wide range of IPAs? We've put together a short guide on the best beers of this style to enjoy right now and some reasons why IPA should be celebrated.
1. There's so much to explore 🍺
An amazing thing about the humble IPA is its ability to be moulded and transformed in a multitude of ways. Want your beer a little more dank? Journey towards a West Coast style. Fancy some roasty character? Let's make it a Red, or Black IPA. Love a BIG mouthfeel with unctuous piney notes? A Hazy IPA might be the way forward.
There's at least one Siren IPA for everyone out there, but in reality, it's probably a lot higher than that. Right now, we're particularly loving Scaled Up, our latest Modern West Coast IPA. This beer is everything we love about the style, and blends sweet watermelon with tropical fruit notes and a crisp, clean piney finish.
2. Fifty Shades of IPA
If you were under the impression that IPAs are all the same shade of amber, it's time to think again!
One of our current lineup of IPA styles, Liquid Mystique, pours a deep amber hue, a far cry from the golden pint you might be used to. With this darker colour comes a familiar, yet distinctly different flavour profile; one of roasty, hearty malts, layered with notes of biscuit and burnt raisins.
This beer is a modern retelling of one of our oldest IPAs, Liquid Mistress, which we like to bring back every so often in the autumn. It won't be long before the season for Red and Black IPAs arrives, and we can't wait to share more with you.
3. Feeling Futuristic? 🚀
If you've hung around us for a little while now, you might be more than a little used to hearing the terms "futuristic" and "advanced" crop up when we talk about some of our IPA releases.
The IPA style is the perfect one to experiment with, which just so happens to be one of our favourite things to do here at Siren! Over the past couple of years, we've been won over by Advanced Hop Products; an umbrella term that covers a wide variety of new, science-driven innovations in the hop world.
Examples of such advanced products include Abstrax® terpenes, Hyperboost® and Dynaboost®. Conveniently, you'll find all three of these inside Soundwave Continuum; one of our most popular Soundwave specials so far.
In this 5.6% special edition of our Flagship IPA, we've included some of the very latest advanced hop products to push the limits of Soundwave further than ever before to produce a futuristic and dank West Coast IPA.
4. Hops, Hops, Hops 🌿
Hops are the cornerstone of every beer that we brew. When choosing between a Pale Ale and an IPA from the fridge, lovers of big bold flavours will often opt for the latter.
IPA styles usually have a stronger hop profile, allowing plenty of room for flavour and aroma to emerge from all angles. A great example of this would be our recent Hazy IPA, Pillow Talk.
This beer is an evolution of everything we loved about our 13th Anniversary IPA, Lucky Numbers. We featured Citra and Krush hops to offer delicious tropical base flavours, followed by a helping of Nelson Sauvin Amplifire™ hop oils to deliver intense hop character (while keeping bitterness to a minimum).
The result is a smooth drinking experience, with a soft, moreish mouthfeel. A great example of how different hops and hop products work together to make something beautiful - and pillowy soft!
5. Award-Winning IPA 🏆
We were very lucky to recently receive three Great Taste Awards for Lumina IPA, Soundwave 0.5 Low Alcohol IPA and Siren Pils Modern Lager. Our low alcohol IPA was received well enough, in fact, to be awarded a double star; a first for us. We've also previously seen our flagship Soundwave IPA receive a Great Taste Award.
These awards are a testament to our production team's year-round efforts, trials and improvements, tastings and problem solving, all in the name of crafting the perfect IPA for drinkers up and down the country (and at times, further afield!).
