Hopefully by now you've spotted that our new anniversary beers have released online, and in bars and bottle shops nationwide. We'd like to extend a massive thanks to all of you who have supported its release.
One of the beers that make up the set, Lucky Numbers, has been making real waves. It's got a great Untappd score, and it's been a best-seller online in the short window of its release. We've even had some staff call it out as our "best hazy IPA yet". A strong claim!
During the planning stages of production for the beer, head brewer Sean Knight put a message out to all Siren employees to ask if anyone wanted to contribute their own lucky numbers into the beer.
"Let us know your lucky number, why it is so, and we'll find a way to incorperate it into the brew." - Sean
Being able to open up such a special beer for company-wide collaboration is a rare opportunity, and we thought it was about time we shared with you the lucky numbers themselves from the staff who got involved.
Below, you'll find the staff members, their lucky number of choice (alongside reason why), and just how our brew team managed to weave their number into the beer.
Jake, Lead Brewer
Lucky Number: 23
Brew Spec: 23 g/l of dry hop added in the beer
Why is it lucky? "My lucky number is actually 23. My birthday is on the 23rd, my first football shirt number was 23, my flat number at Uni was 23, and I got married in 2023"
Hannah, eCommerce Manager
Lucky Number: 13
Brew Spec: Colour of the beer is 13 EBC
Why is it lucky? "My mum had a difficult pregnancy and I ended up being born 8 weeks early. No one on the labour ward wanted to go into labour on Friday 13th but my Mum took a chance and decided to. It was a rocky ride and I was eventually born on the 14th but we've always considered Friday 13th to be lucky for our family!"
Louis, Warehouse Manager & Siren FC Manager
Lucky Number: 14
Brew Spec: 14 Ingredients used in the beer
Why is it lucky? Sticking with the birthday theme, Louis was born on the 14th, but more importantly, "my favourite Arsenal player, and man crush Thierry Henry, wore number 14".
Hayley, Brewer
Lucky Number: 12
Brew Spec: IBU of 12 used for calculated Bitterness
Why is it lucky? "When I was younger I was lucky to have a super kind grandma who helped to raise me, so we had a very special bond. Her birthday was on the 12th. When I got older I was lucky to meet my husband, who is my rock and does a sterling job supporting me. His birthday is also on the 12th. Fast forward another 10 years and I was lucky enough to be blessed with my Son. You guessed it, his birthday is also the 12th."
Emma, Accounting & Finance
Lucky Number: 9 (or 1 and 8)
Brew Spec: We started the fermentation at 18°C
Why is it lucky? "Every house I have lived in was either 1, 8, 18 or 81". All roads lead to 9 in Emma's world!
Jon, Internal Sales & Quiz Master
Lucky Number: 11
Brew Spec: 11 times a hop variety was added. E.g. Citra added twice, Idaho 7 added 4 times, etc.
Why is it lucky? "Mine would be 11, I've only got one reason but it's quite a good one! I was born on the 11th November at 11:11AM. So 11/11 11:11."
Laura, Social Media & Content Creator
Lucky Number: 7
Brew Spec: The ABV is 7%
Why is it lucky? "My lucky number would be 7! since all my previous house numbers either started with 7 or added up to 7." Looks like Laura and Emma are sharing a theme here!
