Fantastic new beers, a multitude of events and the start of a cooler season - read on to discover what we've been up to, and a little of what is to come at Siren.

The Lumina Story

We’d like to take this opportunity to briefly look back on our recent Lumina Hour efforts and thank you all for your support this fine British summer just passed. It’s been wonderful to see you at so many events, festivals and pub gardens all over. From London Craft Beer Festival, to Leeds International to the Swallowfield Show just round the corner from the brewery, it’s been an absolute pleasure.

However, perhaps the highlight was your help in our £10,000 donation to charities around the 3rd Anniversary of our now best-selling beer, Lumina. We set an audacious target to get the beer pouring in 1,000 venues across the country, and at the same time, to trend on UK Twitter/X.

Thanks to a swell of support from the beer community, #LuminaHour trended number 5 in the UK Trends charts on 30th June - 1 place above WWE Smackdown, which was filming live in the UK at the time.

Donations have been made to Make A Wish Foundation, Launchpad Reading and Lymphoma Action UK - a mix of causes chosen by the Siren team. You can read up on more details of our Lumina Hour campaign, and on the overarching story of Lumina, in our recent blog post below.

Liquid Mistress - SOLD OUT!

As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we committed to bringing back a range of classic Siren favourites from days gone by. With In a Belly of The Shark taking the staff vote, and Soundwave on Cask being wished back into existence by the pubs, we put the vote to you, the public; and we could not have heard you clear enough. Liquid Mistress, our former flagship Red IPA from 2013, was brought back for what may well be the first, and last time ever, in 440ml cans.

You may be lucky still to find a small handful of cans out in the wild, or lurking in our Tap Yard - but after fewer than 7 days on our webshop, Liquid Mistress bowed out in a flurry of 6-pack orders. If you managed to snag some, savor it - who knows when, or if, this one will rear its ruby head again.

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest has now ended - we've had a blast, and hope the same can be said for your enjoyment of not only our celebrations, but those that took place all over the UK craft beer scene. It's the perfect time to raise a glass to tradition and indulge in traditional German hops, malts, and lederhosen.

The Tap Yard hosted our biggest Oktoberfest party on record for us, with over 750 pints poured and an influx of polka-dancing drinkers in attendance. Chefs from our country pub, The George & Dragon, were passing out pretzels and bratwurst by the dozen, and we had some fantastic street food vendors down offering up sweet treats throughout the day. Our very own JD from the brewery was even enlisted with his legendary accordion skills to get all of our patrons in the mood; Ein Prosit!

We hosted an Oktoberfest mixed case online too, which brough a range of lagers from various UK craft breweries including Fierce, Donzoko, Utopia and Wiper & True. At the time of writing, we still have around 8 of these cases left for purchase.

Uncle Zester Returns

The cat's finally out of the bag with this very special rebrew, releasing on the 20th October just in time for our Halloween mixed case - more on that to come, and keep your eyes peeled on our mailing list emails! Uncle Zester was first brewed back in 2015 as a collaboration with from B. Nektar, who produce some of the finest meads around. It's a beer/mead hybrid soured and loaded with fruit zest and juice. At 8.5% ABV, this is a very special Autumnal treat.

Dipping Chips in Broken Dream

You may by now have heard of the latest in viral beer trends: dipping chips in Guinness. Well, in 2022 The Mirror rated Hard Pour Broken Dream (now simply Nitro Broken Dream 440ml) as the best alternative to Guinness - we'll take that. Content Manager Tim invited our good neighbour Ricky from Elusive Brewing over to put this trend to the test. Turns out, the combination is a little bit too good. Click below to watch the video!

A little side note: we have both chips, and Nitro Broken Dream in the Tap Yard. You do the math.

What's On at the Tap Yard

What isn't going on at the Tap Yard! We've got so much to offer you, and that catalogue is ever-growing. For starters, our brand new Marquee is in place and won't be moving until the new year, meaning excellent shelter and seating spaces are available every week until the end of the year - perfect for group bookings and after work drinks.

On the 28th October, Jon and the team will be hosting a Halloween party suitable for the whole family. Expect street food, face paining, a DJ set and a competition for best costume, with plenty more details to come. Be sure to follow the Tap Yard on social media for the latest updates.

Before too long, details will emerge of our upcoming collaboration beer with Rooster's Brewing Co. Ahead of the game, on the 19th October, Rooster's will be coming down for a meet the brewer session. Sample 5 of their fantastic range on tap and learn about their process, in the comfort of our own cosy Tap Yard. Tickets include samples of each beer.

Rooster's Meet the Brewer Tickets

David Jesudason, author of the new book 'Desi Pubs' will be down with us on Thursday the 21st October for a free event to sign copies and talk about his book.

In this book, the first of its kind, the award-winning British-Asian journalist and beer writer travels the length and breadth of the country, visiting over 200 ‘desi pubs’ run by British-Indian landlords who have stamped their unique identity on a beloved institution and helped to challenge our preconceptions of the pub customer.

Let us know you'll be coming along by signing up below!

Virtual Tastings and Brewery Tours

Every Saturday we host our ever-popular brewery tours twice a day. The tour takes you on a trip around the brewery site, and possibly even up to the famous barrel store for those well behaved guests! Each tour ends with free samples of our core range beers and time to taste them at guests' leisure back in the Tap Room. You can book your tickets direct through Eventbrite, or gift a tour through our website

If you're looking for something a little different, we do also offer private virtual beer tastings! These are most applicable for groups of 10+ and can be created bespoke to the party's needs. Popular amongst our corporate clientele, our virtual tastings are the perfect ice breaker, reward, or AGM break activity. Check out the link below for more information on what we can offer you.
