White Tips Returns Spring/Summer 2018

When the clocks go back and the first sunshine of the year appears, it means one thing here at Siren - White Tips is brewing!  White Tips is a hybrid Witbier/Session IPA we first conceived back in May 2014.  It immediately became a team favourite, accompanying weekly BBQs throughout the Spring/Summer season, and has been eagerly anticipated each year since. The beer still ranks in Ratebeer.com's Top 50 Wheat Ales, which we're really proud of considering it's not a strictly a true representation of the style, but our own hoppy take. We use a traditional Belgian wit yeast to work in harmony with the vibrant citrus zest of Orange, Lime and Grapefruit, before a healthy hop dosing of Centennial, Cascade, Motueka and Simcoe. This is a carefully balanced, thirst-quenching and sessionable drink that is sure to pull you in wave after wave.

Brewing White Tips 2018

With White Tips being such an important date in the brew-schedule, we wanted to show you a bit behind the scenes this year. The video below follows brewer Sam Squires through the process of a White Tips brew day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkAmXWqkIFU   It was actually one of Sam's first brews at Siren a couple of years ago, so he knows the recipe inside out and is a massive advocate of our Spring/Summer special.

Working here at Siren, I'm lucky enough to be involved with lots of weird, wonderful crazy brews, one-offs and seasonals. White Tips for me is the one to get excited about. It involves a lot of zest and was born out of us spotting a space for the style. It was my first time trying that - the combinations of flavours and profiles. Mid-4% range, dry-hopped, bucket loads of zest and juice flavours. For me it really works.

Well said, Sam! We can't wait for you to try this year's edition.

White Tips 2018 is now available in cask, keg and bottle. You can buy the freshest bottles direct from the brewery online and from the Tap Yard.
