Broken Dream Chocolate Brownies

The coffee, chocolate and milk flavour of our Breakfast Stout, Broken Dream are a fantastic base to this brownie recipe.

Preheat oven at 150 degrees C. Prepare a 9″ X 9″ baking pan with aluminium foil allowing it to hang over the edges and spray with oil.

Bring the beer to a gentle boil then reduce to simmer until reduced to a half.  Set aside to cool.
In a bain marie or a small bowl on top of a small saucepan filled with 1 inch of water, melt the chocolate and butter over good heat, stirring until melted.

Pour this mixture in to a bowl and cool slightly. Add sugar, vanilla, salt and stout and mix well with a whisk or wooden spoon. Add eggs one at a time, mixing just until combined before adding the next egg.

Fold flour into mixture and pour into baking pan. Bake for 50 minutes or until a fork comes out clean. Allow to cool in pan for 2 hours to firm up for best cutting. Give them a generous dusting with icing sugar to serve

  • 10 ounces 60% bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
